Does he like me back?

I'm only 12 years old, and I have the biggest, first crush on this 7th grader. He is a sweet guy. But, whenever I talk to him, he doesn't give me eye contact, and I asked him for a hug 1 time, and he said sure and hugged me. Now, we're friends, but one time when I was sad he wouldn't give me a hug... I guess he thinks I'm annoying when I hardly ever talk to him because I wanna give him a chance with his guy friends and some privacy. Then, one time when I was talking to him again, he finally gives me the eye contact and laughs after I said something funny. A few days later, I asked if I could talk to him and he says no and then I tried to give him a hug because I was being friendly, and he moves away! :( Eventually, he found out that I liked him... so did his friends. So, then at lunch I asked one of his best friends if I could sit with them, and he said sure. And as the guy I liked walked by, he said "CAN'T YOU JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!?!?" and groan.. like "Wtf! I wasn't even talking to you" then I asked 1 of his friends why the guy I like was being a complete jerk to me, and then Sam (I like him) said "Listen, I don't like you" and I said "Okay, I know. As in general or as a crush", then we started arguing. Then my friend Becky that had science class with him, told me that Sam said I was annoying.. so I texted Sam and told him, and he said "We're not friends." Was I being clingy ? Did I make Sam feel uncomfortable ? I wasn't trying to make Sam my boyfriend or anything, but that's what he thought. :/
