I'm getting a dog but that's in August. Any suggestions for a temporary replacements?

Right now im living in a temporary house waiting for our real place to get painted and all. So, i finally proved to my parents that i was responsible enough for a pet. At first i suggested a guinea pig, to which they agreed. Just a day before we were planning to go buy the piggy's my Mom said that since they lived up to 7years, we might as well get a dog. At first i was overjoyed but then they said that i wud get one only after we moved into our real home, which is in August or a bit later. What can i do until then? P.S. my school has reopened.
